Dark Spot Maw

An angler of the deep beneath the Dark Spot: almost all of it is head, and almost all of the head is mouth. It hangs in the gale with its lantern dimmed and its needle teeth bared, waiting; when something drifts close, the lantern flares and the maw comes out of the dark. A tiny male rides fused to her belly, as it does with the anglers of Earth's deep seas.
