Ice Jelly

A living bell of nitrogen ice from the Kuiper belt. Behind its ice windows smolders a brown lump of tholin, its heart, and lights run down the ribs of the bell like the combs of a comb jelly. It drifts in pulses, two to four together, and harms no one until something comes too close: then it flares up, flings its tentacles wide and strikes all around with a wave of cold that frosts hulls and ices over canopy glass.
