Sun Skink

A flat little lizard that basks on the rocks along the terminator of Mercury. The mirror scales on its back throw the sunlight off and keep it from cooking; the golden spot on its crown and the tip of its tail store the day's warmth and glow softly through the long night. Skittish: one footstep and it is gone into a crack.
