An Occultism ritual binds a spirit into a flux device, and the spirit works without rest, fuel or pay: a foliot carries distillate (the Dipper), a djinni spins a skein from the neighboring lands (the Spinning Wheel), an afrit heats a Crucible and burns murk (the Brazier) and thaws the Stillness (the Cinder), a marid keeps a chunk's riverbed (the Well).
The ritual is the crafting pentacle of the spirit's tier: the Book of Binding with the bound spirit goes in the Golden Ritual Bowl, the parts of the device and the Otherworld Opaline — its heart — in the Sacrificial Bowls around it. The book goes into the device with the spirit. Occultism binds a miner into a Dimensional Mineshaft the same way.
