Fluxion

Everything in the world is a stilled current. Read the flux in stone, root and flesh, distill it and turn it into spells, devices and ways to other worlds.

The Wheel of Currents: Springs, Poles and the first step

Read the world. Then change it.

Stone flows over eons, wood over years, fire in an instant. Learn to read that motion — the flux — and the world stops being blocks: a furnace is Ember, a river is Tide, an abandoned mine is stagnant, spoiled flux. You are a new fluxionist: you read the world with the Loupe, write what you learn into your own Codex of Currents, distill currents into liquid distillate and make tools, spells, machines and doors to places on no map out of them.

Every shortcut has a price. Flux taken roughly settles as murk; settled murk becomes mire — a living blight that creeps over the land and spreads by itself.

Springs and Poles

Four Springs stand on the Wheel, and each passes into its neighbor: the tide brings silt — strata, strata warm — ember, ember lifts the air — gale, gale brings rain — tide. The two Poles are not elements but directions. Every other current is made of two.
