Canopy

A Canopy is a one-way floor: flux cloth stretched in a frame. Whoever stands on it — player, animal, dropped item — is held; from below and from the side you pass through and jump up onto it; sneak, and you drop through. Cover shafts with it, lay floors over farms (animals stay, you go down) and make steps you jump onto from below.

It is not a lift: a Driftway carries riders through its own landings, and an Updraft's stream stops at a Canopy as at a floor. The membrane glows with Halo and casts no shadow.
