Pages of the entry
An inlay makes a finished automaton faster, stronger, keener or fiercer — without taking it apart. Use the inlay on your automaton to press it into a plank of the Sigil ring around the window on its chest: the plank lights up in the color of its current. There is one slot; speculum, fluxsteel, wax and burl hulls have two; a Thinking head adds one more. At most two of one current.
Gale is lightness: a step 12% faster, Operate presses a quarter more often. Strata is strength: one more stack of load, fells and quarries faster, hits harder. Ember: its blows set foes alight. Tide is senses: sigils seen farther, a wider circle of work, truer Slings.
Lattice is order: a fighter strikes whoever hurt its owner. Fray is thorns: whoever strikes it is struck back. Angle has its own use for each inlay (the entry "Angle").
Shears on your automaton take an inlay off whole — the last one first. When the pipe takes an automaton apart, its inlays go into its item and come back with it; one that is destroyed loses them with its hull.
