Pages of the entry

1

A Quickened Thought makes an automaton retentive: it reads double outlines and works faster with experience. In the Stillness people stopped mid-step, and their thoughts stand still with them. A Confluence can wake a thought within a Tally Engine — it will remember and learn. It takes a Frozen Thought: Laggards drop it.

2

A Thinking Head makes a retentive automaton: it reads double outlines and gains knack — five steps, each an eighth faster. It is brittle; under a helm it is not.

3

Double outline: press your sigil with the same brush and the same ink — a second ring lies down in gold (two strokes). A sigil in a double outline has a filter of nine items and "all but these"; Patrol gets a choice of targets, Quarry silk touch, Stow a limit per item.

4

A thought remembers whose it was. Standing idle near its owner, a retentive automaton now and then murmurs a scrap of someone else's life — the one who froze mid-step: where he was going, what he never finished. It is neither an order nor a fault; a Thinking head also holds one more current inlay (the entry "Current Inlays").
