Through-Mirrors carry things: what goes into one comes out of the other — in the next room, across the world or in the Nether. They are the mail of a workshop: ore from the mine comes to the chest at home by itself, and what you gather on the road does not fill your inventory. One Confluence gives two mirrors. Hang one and right-click it with the other — the second remembers the first; place the second anywhere — they are a pair.
Throw a thing into the glass and it goes; a hopper or a pipe feeds the mirror by itself. What arrives goes into the chest, barrel or hopper the pair hangs on (sneak to hang a mirror on one), and if there is none — it comes out of the pair's glass. A send costs the flux of the sender's chunk — five hundredths of a unit per thing (a little over three for a stack), a quarter at the least — and leaves no murk. If the pair's land is not loaded, the things wait in its glass — up to nine stacks — and come out when its land wakes.
A mirror is yours: sneak and right-click it with an empty hand to open it to guests or close it. A broken mirror loses its pair; placed again, it stands alone until it is tuned again. In the Stillness the glass freezes — nothing flows there, save on thawed ground. The Reckoners kept such pairs at their sluices: tally tablets went from weir to weir without a line getting wet.
A Pocket Mirror sends what you hold in your other hand into a Through-Mirror — from anywhere: right-click a mirror with it and it will look into that one. It costs more than mirror to mirror: one unit of the flux of the chunk you stand in, a tenth of a unit per thing, one unit at the least. By Confluence it deepens into the Deep Mirror (the Stillness chapter). Next: "Linked Vessels".
The Ender Mirror is the same thing tuned another way: sneak and right-click an Ender Chest with a Pocket or Deep Mirror, and it will look into your Ender Chest. Then, in hand, it opens it from anywhere — in a mine, on the road, on a far shore: your Ender Chest is the same behind every ender chest anyway, and the things in it are yours. Each opening costs half a unit of the flux of the chunk you stand in (above the bottom of its bed); in the Stillness the glass freezes. Right-click a Through-Mirror with it, and it looks into a mirror again.
