Skein Weaver

A living shuttle: it spins the glowing thread of the rift and winds it into skeins — the very skein islands of the Interrift. It draws the thread from cache to cache: the Comb Keepers hid their capsules where the threads meet. A slow ship it takes for a lost shuttle and leads it along the thread to the nearest cache; a fast one scatters the flock.
