AE2's Charger, Inscriber and Growth Accelerator work without a network too — if someone turns them. An automaton cannot turn AE2's wooden crank, but it can turn the brass one: set it on a face of the device, paint an Operate sigil on it, and the automaton gives the device a turn with every press.
A device that needs no turn (charged, nothing to press) does not take it — the crank clicks idly. You can turn it by hand as well.
