1

A floor of backwater flagstone gives the Heart a store of calm — and a great Confluence stops breaking. The Reckoners' weir keepers paved the beds by their sluices with flagstones over which water stood still, as in a backwater. An altar floor of such flagstone — at the level of the plinths or below, within eight blocks — raises the Heart's calm: the first flags give the most, up to +30.

2

Calm steles stand along old weirs. By an altar a stele calms 0.3 a second of a Confluence, each next a little less; eight count. While the Heart is awake their runes glow and a thread runs from each to the center.

3

A weirkeeper figurine — a clay keeper holding a float — was left by a sluice as a vow: hold the water level. By an altar it calms 0.4 a second and adds 5 to the Heart's calm; the four nearest count.

4

A Lees Shell with a ripe pearl is a calm stone from the bottom of the Lees: by an altar it calms 0.4 a second and adds 8 to the Heart's calm — more than a figurine. Shells stand in for figurines: the four nearest of both together count, and the fittings' common calm limit stays. The Heart ignores a shell without a pearl; take one with Silk Touch and the pearl stays in it. Next: "Altar Fittings".
