The Conduit is the fluxionist's weapon and tool: it strikes with the land's flux, heals, mines, relays blocks and sets traps — which of these, the lens in its socket decides. It is a leather bracer over fluxsteel ribs, a flux coil winding along it, and on the back of the hand a socket with a lens. The flux of the chunk you stand in runs through your arm and the coil and leaves the lens as a deed.
A lens is an opaline disc with facets, and its cut decides what it does. The first lens is cut from a small blank on the Lens Grinder (the next entry, "Lenses"); slot it in by clicking the lens onto the Conduit in your inventory, then right-click to cast. A cast draws flux from the chunk — one flux for every four facets of the lens. To swap lenses on the move, hold …: the lens wheel of your inventory and cases rises around the crosshair; let go, and the one you point at slots in.
Where flux is plentiful, the lens strikes at full force; in a dry place, weaker. Below the bed floor nothing can draw flux: there the lens only hisses and scorches the bed with a pinch of murk. A small blank is rough — every fourth cast leaves murk. Work by a river and watch the flux with the Loupe.
