A vessel stores currents for later: Confluence, devices and the Crucible take from it, so you need not brew from a single cauldron. A vessel — glass blown on opaline in rings of old bronze — holds one current, up to a hundred and ninety-two parts. A siphon above the neck fills it, a siphon at the side or under the base draws from it. Broken by hand, a vessel carries its contents along.
Flint and steel struck on a vessel burns the rune of the current inside onto its bronze tag. A branded vessel keeps its current even when empty: it takes nothing else and calls its own along the siphons. An axe scrapes the brand off.
Bindwax seals the neck: a sealed vessel neither gives nor takes. An axe chips the seal off.
What is spilled is not lost for nothing. Tip a vessel over with an empty hand while sneaking — or let a blast shatter it — and the distillate lies in a puddle. In ten seconds the puddle dries, and a quarter of what was spilled settles into the land as murk.
A spillway vessel keeps its own current, and whatever it cannot take — its own surplus and any other current — it passes to the vessel beneath, if that one accepts it; its own surplus with no such vessel spills onto the ground. Stack spillway vessels on top of one another, and they sort the currents among themselves: each keeps its own.
A vessel can be carried in hand too, like a large vial. Take it and click another holder — a vessel, an Alembic, a Gyre: empty or holding the same current, it draws that current, as much as fits. With nothing to draw — the other is empty or yours is full — the vessel pours its own back, as much as is taken. Only the same current moves; brands and seals are kept, and nothing spills over the rim from your hand. To set a vessel down next to a holder, sneak.
The Lumenash Filter goes into Alembics, Strainer Siphons and the Purifier: lumenash cleans murk by itself, so everything that sorts or cleans currents is built around its sieve. String is stretched crosswise in a rim of lumenash planks and bound with bronze.
