A Fair Copy gives a friend everything your Codex knows, at once: a friend joins when you are already at the Stillness — and need not start from Quickdust. Take a clean copy in hand and press it on a Reckoning Desk with your Codex on it: your studied entries (boards as solved), revealed currents and Loupe readings are copied in. Give the copy to your friend: they take it in hand and right-click — the knowledge becomes theirs, and the copy turns clean again.
Notes are not copied: your friend keeps their own, and things you have already read with the Loupe will give them no notes. Filling a copy takes half a pen of Ruling Pen ink (48 divisions); your own filled copy can be filled again with fresh knowledge. Entries you took in from someone else's copy are not copied on: only what you studied yourself is passed. Entries with Dissonance give the reader half their Dissonance, 10 at most. Your deeds — the first step into the Stillness, victories, Dissonance thresholds — are each one's own.
The Reckoners copied their records fair and handed them to apprentices: an apprentice who read the master's fair copy knew all the master knew, and the book came back clean — for the next one. The ink of a fair copy flows like the Codex's — that is why the knowledge leaves the page for whoever reads it.
