Fluxsteel is the metal of flux instruments: the Conduit, the Confluence Heart, the Flux Coil, the Flux Reservoir, retorts, bands and fluxsteel tools and armor are made of it. It is iron steeped in distillate until the flux has soaked it through: darker than plain steel and heavier in the hand, with a thin vein of light glowing in its fracture.

Strata is in stone, Ember in coal, Lattice in diorite, quartz and Lattice crystals; Strata and Ember are neighbors and get along. The heat must be strong: iron melts only over lava. Throw the iron ingot in last.
