There are enchantments an enchanting table does not remember. Read something that does: a bottle o' enchanting, soul sand, an echo shard, blue ice or a wind charge.

Mending, Frost Walker, Soul Speed, Swift Sneak and Wind Burst never come from an enchanting table — but Confluence writes them. The table teaches what it has seen; these are found only in chests and with villagers. The currents remember them — and the altar writes them like the rest, only heavier: none of them is ever a simple Confluence.
Mending — a thing that heals itself with experience. It is always a great Confluence: build the altar with weirs and calm stones. It contends with Infinity, as it does in the world.
Frost Walker by Rime, Soul Speed by Soul: both on boots. Frost Walker contends with Depth Strider.
Swift Sneak by Sense and Gloom, on leggings; Wind Burst by Gale, on a mace. Next: "Unweaving Cloth" and "Rite Repair".
