Pages of the entry
A Gale Fan speeds up a Flux Forge — three bellows make it three times faster — and only with it does the forge blow iron into fluxsteel. Carved boards of old oak and folds of oxhide; at the nose, a copper pipe with an opal bead. Set the bellows with their nose into a tuyere — the copper socket in the middle of a side or the back of the forge — and they breathe by themselves: Gale of the place pumps them. Each Gale Fan adds two thirds of the forge's own pace.
Where Gale does not flow, the bellows have nothing to breathe — they pump at half strength.
Bellows speed up a retort too: set a Gale Fan with its nose into the side or back of a retort (the front is the firebox door), and the hearth distills faster — each fan by two thirds on Gale of the place, by a third without Gale; up to three fans. Less fuel goes to each thing. How many fans blow and how much faster, the Loupe writes under the retort's name.
Only bellows on Gale blow through iron: the wind of the place passes through the melt, and the flux of the land enters the ingot. Nearly half the metal burns off as scale; the rest comes out as Fluxsteel Nuggets. Where there is no Gale, the ingot waits in the charge.
The forge with three bellows is on the diagram: the bellows at the tuyeres, nose to the forge; in front is the tap grate where the result comes out. "Place ghost" sets them in the world.
