The Marid Well keeps its chunk's riverbed: the marid turns murk into flux — 0.1 a second, without grates or fuel — and when flux falls below three quarters of the bed it pours some over from the fullest neighbor, 0.1 a second. In a clean chunk mire recedes by itself. Place the well in your workshop's chunk.
One well per chunk. The marid does not make flux, it moves it: the neighbors have less.
