The Simmering Dell is an alchemist's home. A Crucible in the dell brews gently: a clash of opposite Springs carries off half as much, and the murk of the Crucible and the Brewing Tower is halved (with the thrower's Patience, even less). All four Springs flow here by themselves: the Flux Workbench asks for no Gale, Ember, Strata or Tide shards. The riverbed is 100.
What to gather. Bottle Gourds hang under the leaves of Gourdwoods and ripen only in the dell; pick a ripe one by hand, and a new one sets on the stem. A gourd holds Brew 4 and Bloom 2 — Brew from a tree, and every potion of the Crucible needs Brew 2. Sinterstone at the warm springs is heat without fire: a Crucible on it simmers over gentle heat anywhere. Brew Newts drop a Newt Eye — Brew and Tempo.
The Gourd Flask holds three sips of one potion in one slot. Throw it into a Crucible instead of a bottle: it takes a sip of the same brew and floats out — up to three sips of the same potion. It is drunk a sip at a time, and when empty it stays a flask. Its body is a Dried Gourd: a Bottle Gourd in a furnace, smoker or on a campfire.
The Dried Gourd is the first step to a flask; on the Flux Workbench a speculum nugget stopper, two strings for a strap and a Newt Eye are added to it.
What it is grown with: Shift, Brew and Bloom. Warm springs rise in the hollows — pools of turquoise water in a ring of sinter, bubbles rising from the bottom, steam over the surface; Steamreed smokes at the water, Bubblewort glows in it, Simmerbloom blooms on the moss. Baskers sit in the warm water and Brew Newts live by the springs — a provoked newt spits heat.
Where Brew flows, the land brews by itself, and the gourds swell with the sap of currents like vials on an alchemist's shelf. The currents of the place are Brew, Bloom, Alloy, Tide and Venom.
