The Auditors summed the Sum three times, and three times it came out different. One sum said every current must be stopped — and the Order of the Still Hour was born. Another said every current must be tolled — and the Tollkeepers went their way. The third said every current must be let down to the bottom — and the Sunken went down. Each branch took loops for itself and rewound their Auditors to its sum.

No branch took the Reckoned loops: their Auditors sum all three in turn and settle on none. The Reckoners who stayed write that the Sum did not reconcile not because the count was wrong — the Wheel does not sum to a single current.
