The great counting automaton of the Reckoners, which summed each loop into the Ledger — the count of the whole world. The Ledger never balanced: it summed it three times and got three totals, and every branch that took a loop rewound it to its own. The three masks on its dome are the three totals; whichever faces forward is the one it is summing now.
