Coalsnail

A snail of the burnt land. Its shell is a spiral of coal with an ember asleep deep in the whorl, and the seam of the spiral smolders brighter toward the middle. By day it is a dark lump with a dull orange seam; at night the whorls glow, and slow little lights crawl over the black ash. It leaves no trail of fire.
