Caustic Brine

Caustic Brine is a trap and a breaker at once: creatures die in it with shards on top of their drops, and things thrown in melt into shards of their primal currents. Brew Ash, Brew and Fray in the Crucible and throw an empty bucket in last — it floats up full of Caustic Brine. The brine eats into everything living that steps in; a creature that dies in it gives shards of the primal currents of its table and vials of the compound ones.

A thing dropped in the brine melts pinch by pinch: its primal currents drop out as shards, with a share of luck, the rest goes to murk. Dissolving spends the brine — now and then a pool turns into plain water. Shards, grit and distillate vials do not melt in it.
