Reforming gives plain materials you would otherwise have to go out for: clay from sand, string from wool, cobweb from string, a lava bucket from an empty bucket, and sea reforming gives prismarine, a sea lantern and a sponge without an ocean monument. The Crucible does not only dissolve: a thing thrown last into a brew of the right currents comes out as something else. Caustic Brine and the Murk Flask grew from the same craft.
Clay: sand soaked in three parts of Tide over a gentle heat comes out as four clay balls. Tide is in water and kelp.
String: white wool unpicked by a part of Bind and a part of Fang gives four strings; any heat will do.
Cobweb: string beaten together by three parts of Bind becomes a cobweb; any heat will do.
Lava: an empty bucket thrown into eight parts of Ember and two of Strata at a strong boil, over lava, floats up as a lava bucket — a Crucible over lava makes the lava for the next one.
Sea reforming: quartz washed in three parts of Tide and two of Prism over a gentle heat comes out as two prismarine shards. At a strong boil with Gleam the same quartz turns to opaline.
Crystals: a prismarine shard thrown into two parts of Tide and three of Gleam brightens into two prismarine crystals; any heat will do. Gleam is in glowstone dust.
Sea lantern: a glowstone block in eight parts of Tide, six of Prism and two of Gleam floats up as a sea lantern; any heat will do.
Sponge: a dried kelp block wrung out by two parts of Tide and four of Hollow at a strong boil, over lava, comes out as a dry sponge. Hollow is in tuff and in ender pearls.
