Pages of the entry
A clean camp is a place where you can live and work on the bottom: the mire recedes there and Glowbloom grows. Every chunk of the Lees holds its own bed murk — one and a half riverbeds — and pulls back toward it: a cleansed chunk fills again, from its neighbors and from the bed. A single Purifier in the middle of the mire will not cope. A camp of 3 × 3 chunks is held together: three or four Purifiers with grates, and lumenash trees.
Where the murk drops below a third of the riverbed, the mire recedes into silt and stone, and Glowbloom breaks through the revived silt — the glowing grass of the bottom, the sign of a camp. Murk Fry do not swim into a clean camp. Bubblebacks graze on Mire Threads and breathe out bubbles — you can take a breath in them. In the Bright Shallows there is no bed murk at all: the bottom took that grove in clean.
