Bindings fit your Conduit to you and to the place. There are two slots: a cuff at the wrist changes every cast — cheaper, faster or steadier near the bottom of the bed; an insert in the bed gives a native current, and its casts are cheaper where it flows. Set them at the Flux Workbench: any Conduit with a cuff or an insert below it; the old one comes back into the grid. The binding shows on the bracer and moves to a new bracer along with the lens.

2

Cuffs are forged from the Copper Cuff, which changes nothing by itself. Gold: casts 10% cheaper. Bronze: cooldown 15% shorter. Fluxsteel: 15% cheaper and murk half as often. Still: casts do not weaken near the bottom of the bed. A cuff's thrift adds to your fluxionist garb and Will, but a cast never costs less than half.

3

An insert is the substance of a Spring or a Pole: Ember — a blaze rod, Gale — a breeze rod, Tide — a prismarine shard, Strata — obsidian, Lattice — nether quartz, Fray — a bone. A native cast is one whose main action (the first in the lens's name) is the insert's current or made of it: Chill is native to both Tide and Lattice. It takes a quarter less flux from the land; where the insert's Spring flows in the place — as at the Flux Workbench — it also murks half as often; where the opposite flows (Ember — Tide, Strata — Gale, Lattice — Fray) and its own does not, a quarter more. Other casts are left as they are.

4

An insert holds 8 flux of its own. It fills one at a time every five seconds from the chunk's flux while you hold the Conduit where the insert's Spring flows and the chunk is at least half full. In a dry chunk the store covers a cast's shortfall — after a skein and before a Belt Reliquary. Pantograph traceries and the Wheel Conduit pay by the same rules; a tracery's main action is that of its first strike.
