The Lens Grinder cuts lenses for the Conduit: you build from nodes what the lens will do and how. A pinch of quickdust on a grindstone — and the stone of the wheel clouds with opal, the posts darken, the axle turns to brass, and a ring of runes surfaces on the wheel. This is the Lens Grinder. Lay a lens blank on its wheel by clicking the blank onto it, and open it with an empty hand.

Lens Grinder
A lens is assembled from nodes. The carrier is how the action flies: Palm, Jet, Droplet, Mist, Pool. The action is what it does: a small blank holds one or two, a Lens Blank three with two carriers in a conjunction, a great one four with up to three. Cuts are how it multiplies and repeats. Every node takes facets of the blank; a node's levels — reach, spread, force — take more.
Prism
CraftThe wheel cuts slowly and draws the flux of the chunk — two flux for every facet; at the bed floor it stops and waits. A cut must be watered: every level of a node asks for a shard of the Spring or Pole its current flows from; Palm is free. The first nodes — Palm and Scorch — are known to anyone who has studied the Conduit; the entries of this chapter open the rest.
