Current grit makes an Atomizer's cloud last longer and seasons food: whoever eats it gets the effect of its currents. Lay a shard of a primal current on the ground and drop an anvil, sand, gravel or a dripstone point on it: the shard crumbles into three pinches of current grit. Grit carries its current like a shard — only finely.
A pinch of grit in an atomizer's nozzle makes its cloud last twice as long — for one puff. The nozzle holds sixteen pinches; grit poured in does not come back out.
Food can be seasoned at a crafting table — up to three pinches. Whoever eats it gets the currents' effects: Ember wards off fire, Tide lets you breathe underwater, Gale makes you fall slowly, Strata hardens, Lattice lends spare health. Pinches add up on the Wheel, as in the Crucible: Gale with Tide is Drift, Ember with Lattice is Gleam; opposite Springs hiss and lose half, yet Tide with Ember still gives Bloom — healing. A water cauldron washes the seasoning off.
A drop of distillate seasons food too: lay a distillate vial beside the food at a crafting table — it gives one part of its current and stays on the grid one part lighter. That is how currents with no grit of their own get onto food. Echo grants Keen Hearing; Halo grants half a minute of Hush if you eat without moving; Mind leaves a note for the chapter of the seasoning's second current — at most three per chapter; Murk clouds your sight and leaves a Ripple in your mind.
