Current pods are a current from the garden bed: the seeds grow in their own place, and the Crucible dissolves a ripe pod into its current. Throw wheat seeds into a Crucible where Root and any current are boiling, and Seeds of that current float up. Root teaches the seed to grow, the current what to become.
Current seeds grow on farmland, but only where their current — or both of its parents — flows in the land: Drift by a river, Rime in the snows. Elsewhere the crop stands still and takes no bone meal. A ripe crop gives pods: thrown into the Crucible, a pod dissolves into its current. Seeds of different currents look alike — hold Shift in a window and runes show on the icons.
RootCrossing gives seeds of a combined current straight from the garden bed, without a Crucible. Plant crops of two currents that combine on the Wheel side by side: Tide and Ember give Bloom, Strata and Lattice give Prism. When a ripe crop is harvested and its partner is ripe next to it, on any of the four sides, one time in six Seeds of the combined current drop with the harvest. Whether they grow here is up to the land, as with every current crop.
