Gale Treads are boots for height: every jump from the ground throws you 3 blocks up — onto a ledge, a three-block wall, over a fence. The fall after your own jump is soft: only what lies below the spot you pushed off from counts. Crouch, and the jump is an ordinary one: for building, caves and low ceilings. They give almost no protection.

They jump on a flux charge but drink very little of it: one unit of charge lasts 32 jumps, a full charge about two thousand. In a chunk with at least three quarters of its bed in flux the boots drink it back by themselves, so in living places they do not run dry. Empty, they are plain boots and the jump is ordinary; a Charging Basin or a Flux Locket fills them. They make no sound: only a gust under the sole. Next: "Samara Hood".
