The Great Pendulum is the machine of the Stilling in the Clock Tower of the Halted Blaze; defeating it gives the Pendulum Bob, the key to the Founder's Hall, and a Hubstone of five spokes. The dead dial at the top wakes it: set in four Hour Marks — dawn, noon, dusk and midnight; no hour passes in the Stillness, so write them with the Loupe at home. The Pendulum sweeps the hall: take cover behind the columns in time with its swing.
