A Lees Shell grows a pearl out of murk, and with a ripe pearl it is the best calm stone for a Confluence altar. It lies on bare silt — only in the Lees, and only where the murk is at least a third of the riverbed: each stage of the pearl eats half a share of the chunk's murk. A ripe pearl glows between the valves.

Take the shell with silk touch, and the pearl stays in it; otherwise it crumbles. A shell with a ripe pearl by a Confluence altar is a calm stone: the bottom is the quietest water. It holds the reserve more firmly than a Weirkeeper Figurine (+8 instead of +5) and takes its place among the four nearest stones.
