A Murk Fumer turns things to mire with smoke: mushrooms become murkcaps, a pumpkin a mirekin, logs Mirebound Logs. A siphon pours Murk distillate into it from above, and the horn breathes heavy smoke ahead. The smoke does not spread but flows down and creeps along the floor: murk settles. Settled smoke is murk in the land.

In the smoke mushrooms become murkcaps, a pumpkin a mirekin, a jack o'lantern a mire-o'-lantern, logs mirebound logs; the living in it are clouded. A mirebound log gives mirebound planks: they do not spread mire, but a murkcap takes root on them.
