Opaline need not be sought in the depths — it can be grown: a Crucible over lava turns quartz into opaline. Quartz is opaline that lacked the light: sink it in a distillate of Prism and Gleam, and turquoise and lilac begin to play inside it — the quartz remembers what it might have been.
Prism
Gleam2
Prism is in quartz, amethyst and gems; Gleam is in glowstone dust. Gems are hard, and quartz all the more: the Crucible must boil over lava. Throw the quartz in last.
