The Restart Sluice lets the land of the Stillness go, forever. Set it anywhere in the Stillness and put in a trophy of an Order guardian — a Bell Tongue or a Prior's Seal: a thaw patch, a scrap of the Thawed, opens forty blocks around. There water flows and fire burns, you can sleep and set your spawn, beasts come, the riverbed is 120, above a river's, and Stillmetal Veins give Freshet Ore. It is a place for a home and a workshop in the Stillness, before the Restart and after.
The trophy goes into the sluice in five seconds: the sluice's clock stops, runes of Tempo gather in a ring, and the land gives way in a wave from the sluice. Break the sluice sooner, and the trophy falls out whole. Thaw patches do not merge: at least 32 blocks of still land lie between two. The land of the Founder's Hall the sluice does not let go: only the Restart does. The sluice itself can be taken up and set again: what was let go does not freeze back.
By the founder's dais in the Founder's Hall the sluice waits for something else: the Heart of the Stilling. A lantern lets time go for minutes; the Heart held it for ages. Set the Heart in while all four riverbeds of the Springs flow: the streams gather to it around the Wheel, and it beats faster and faster. The Order will not allow it: the stilled at the edge of the Hall step from their places and put out the riverbeds; light them again with shards of their Springs. This is the Restart: the Stillness is started once for the whole world.
