Side Outlets give a retort more columns of Alembics — more currents at once — and a Settling Vat catches what is lost as silt instead of murk. An outlet is set flush against the side of a retort, its tube toward it, and another column of Alembics rises on its neck. Outlets fit any retort.

A settling vat is a bog-oak tub beside a retort. What distillation loses settles in it as silt instead of murk: eight parts make one silt. Take the silt out with an empty hand; a full vat catches nothing more. Dissolved in the Crucible, silt gives Murk.
