A ford wolf is a living source of Fang, Tide and Halo: he molts in the river, and no one has to be killed. Steep a bone in the Crucible in Tide and Fang and you get a Steeped Bone. Give it to your tamed wolf, and he becomes a ford wolf — fur the color of wet river stone, a stream running along the spine. Owner, collar and name stay; a wild or someone else's wolf gets nothing from the bone.
