The Freshet Retort

Reforge a wootz retort with freshet steel: a thing breaks down twice as fast, and its losses, as with the bright one, settle as silt, without murk. And while the chunk's flux is above the bed — by a Spring, by a river at full moon — every part of any current gives one more with a chance of one in two, for a unit of the surplus flux; the retort never touches the bed.
