The Gyre is a large shared store: any currents in one sphere, and the Confluence Heart takes whatever it needs from it. It holds up to one thousand five hundred and thirty-six parts at once. A sphere of blown glass on a bronze foot, two blocks tall: the currents in it neither blend nor clash — each circles the axis as its own strand, and the brass band of the Wheel glows while the sphere is filled.
A siphon over the neck fills the Gyre with any current while there is room. A siphon at its side or under its foot draws from it — first the fullest of what is awaited down the tube.
Set the Gyre by a Confluence Heart: the Heart draws from it any current the Confluence needs — as it does from vessels nearby.
Broken by hand, the Gyre carries what it holds away with it. A blast shatters it: the fullest current lies in a puddle, and the rest settles into the land as murk at once.
