A Holding Chamber feeds the Crucible in portions, and it brews on its own: the chamber measures out twelve parts and gives them all at once when the holder below it is empty. The chamber is a flask in a bronze cage. A siphon above fills it with any currents until a portion is gathered. A full chamber waits, and while it gives, it takes nothing from above.

So one siphon feeds the Crucible portion by portion: the chamber above gives a portion, the Crucible brews, empties — and receives the next. The shutter handle on the drain stands along it while the chamber gives. A broken chamber spills its portion in a puddle.
