A Mixing Vat combines currents without a Crucible: two parts of different currents become a part of their compound when the one you need is scarce in the world. It is a copper vat with a stirrer. Siphons above pour currents in; two parts of currents that combine on the Wheel become a part of the compound. Siphons at the sides and below draw only the compound; parts still waiting for a pair stay in the vat.
Opposite Springs — Tide with Ember, Strata with Gale — merge only when the vat stands below both holders they flow from: as in the basin of a Riverbed puzzle. Otherwise the arriving part clashes and goes to murk. Two parts become one; a separator gives back one part of each parent from two parts of the compound — no breeding of currents this way.
