Through-Mirrors
Pairs of mirrors and vessels: items go into the pair, the Pocket Mirror sends from your hand, the Ender mirror opens your ender chest, the Deep Mirror steps through the glass, Linked Vessels share one level.
A Through-Mirror is a pair of panes in speculum frames: an item thrown into one comes out of the other wherever it is and goes
into the chest the pair hangs on. Sending costs flux and leaves no murk. Codex entries —
Through-Mirrors,
Linked Vessels and
Deep Mirror.
Making a pair
One Confluence gives two mirrors:
- Hang the first
Through-Mirror on a sturdy face — a wall, a floor or a ceiling. - Press the second mirror against it: one item of the stack remembers it (tooltip "tuned to the mirror at x, y, z", the icon glows). While it is in your hand a turquoise dotted line runs from the first mirror to where you aim.
- Place it anywhere — a pair. On a chest or a barrel you hang it sneaking (otherwise they open).
A pair is made only from two lone mirrors. Break one — the other is left alone. The Silvered Glass of the recipe — Flux Workbench: glass, a speculum sheet, glass.
Sending items
- In: an item that touches the glass goes to the pair. A hopper or a pipe above the mirror puts a stack at a time into it. Pipes can't take from a mirror.
- Out: what arrives goes into the storage the pair hangs on (a chest, a barrel, a hopper), and what doesn't fit comes out of the glass. Its mirror doesn't take an item that came out back.
- Cost — flux of the sender's chunk: 0.05 per item, at least 0.25 per send. Not enough — as much goes as is paid for.
- A sleeping pair: if the pair's land isn't loaded, items wait in its box (up to 9 stacks) and come out when its chunk arrives. The server doesn't load chunks for items.
- In the Stillness outside thawed land the glass freezes: nothing goes through, the Loupe says "Frozen".
Owner and guests
The owner is whoever placed it. Sneaking with an empty hand, the owner opens the mirror to guests or closes it. Another player's closed mirror can't be tuned to, looked into with a pocket mirror or stepped through; thrown items and hoppers work for everyone.
The Pocket Mirror
Pocket Mirror — press it against a Through-Mirror (yours or open to guests): it looks into it. In your hand it
sends into that mirror what you hold in your other hand, from anywhere — for the flux of the chunk you stand in: 0.1 per item,
at least one, no more often than every half second.
The Ender mirror is the same pocket mirror tuned, sneaking, on an ender chest: in hand it opens your ender chest anywhere for 0.5 flux, no more often than once a second. Tuning it to a Through-Mirror removes this, and the other way round.
The Deep Mirror
Deep Mirror — a Pocket Mirror improved by Confluence (the tuning stays). It leads through a Through-Mirror to its pair:
- press it on the mirror and stay near for a second and a half (more than 3.5 blocks from the glass — the step is canceled);
- the pair is in the same world, neither pane is frozen, there is room to stand in front of the far glass;
- charge — 16 of 48 (Charging Basin), cooldown — 3 s;
- the price to the mind — 1 Ripple unless you are under Hush.
Sneaking, the Deep Mirror sends items like the Pocket one.
Linked Vessels
Linked Vessel — a distillate vessel with a speculum band and a mirror medallion; one Confluence gives two,
the pair is tuned the same way as mirrors.
- One level for two: 2 shares flow from the fuller to the emptier every 4 ticks while the difference is at least two; each share costs 0.05 flux of the giving vessel's land. This isn't storage: the two hold as much as two vessels.
- One current flows: with different currents in the vessels nothing moves. A sealed one doesn't share, in the Stillness it freezes.
- Only between loaded ends — across worlds too, while both are loaded.
- Everything else is like an ordinary vessel: siphons, brand, broken by hand it keeps the distillate in the item.
What next
- Current Circles — the Through-Circle carries you yourself, across worlds too.
- Stand-in, Ferrystone, Swirl, Canopy and Seeping Masonry — a Ferrystone is tuned like a pair of mirrors.
- Devices and machines — flux, owners and device windows.
